Reporting weather related incidents over the weekend

Please see the below from Oxfordshire County Council:

''As you will have seen on the news we are due some wet and windy weather again this weekend. 

The latest reports indicate that wind speeds will be slightly lower than last week but rainfall is likely to be heavier so there is an increased chance of flooding.  Oxfordshire County Council is working closely with all our partners to monitor the situation and prepare for the weekend.  As a reminder there are some numbers that you can call to report weather related issues if you become aware of them.

Mayor of Abingdon Charity Evening

The Mayor of Abingdon, Cllr Charlie Birks is hosting a Charity evening on Friday 27th March 2020 in The Abbey Hall, Guildhall to raise money for his two chosen charities: The Abingdon Bridge and SHIFT.

There will be music from Saving Cathren and The Fallen Angels and there will be bar available for refreshments.

Tickets are £10 each and are available from the Town Council Offices on Bridge Street.

This event is open to all so please get your ticket today for what is sure to be a fantastic evening!

Winter is traditionally the busiest time of year for the NHS, and so patients are being reminded to only use Emergency Departments in Oxford in an emergency.

There are a range of alternative options available for non-emergency situations to ensure you get the appropriate care you need, and save an unnecessary trip to the Emergency Department.

Culham Parochial School Samplers Display

We are delighted to announce that samplers on loan from Culham Parochial Church of England School are now exhibited at Abingdon Museum Attic Gallery until 29th March 2020. The display shows some pieces of embroidery made by pupils at Culham Parochial School in the past.

ABINGDON-ON-THAMES TOWN COUNCIL CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR OPENING HOURS

Tue 24th December 2019:

Information Centre and Town Council offices open from 9am to 3pm

Wed 25th December - Wed 1st Jan inclusive

CLOSED

New Year: 

The offices are then re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2020 at 9am

Recycle Your Christmas Tree!

This is a reminder that as usual, once the Christmas festivities are concluded, you can bring your Christmas tree to the Market Place to be recycled into woodchip.

This annual event takes place on the Saturday after Twelfth Night and this year is scheduled for Saturday 4th January from 9am to 3pm. This service is provided by the Town Council.

The woodchip produced will help to line our woodland pathways and provide compost for allotments and flowerbeds.

Letter to EU citizens

Vale of White Horse District Council has written to thousands of residents in the district who are EU nationals from countries outside of the UK. The letter explains what affected residents need to do to remain in the UK after Brexit and signposts them to further information.
