The traditional Monday market will continue to take place as usual. However in line with current restrictions on retailing activity and in line with other local markets, this will be a food only market.  The traders will be arriving early to supply you with your everyday needs. The exact stalls may alter from week to week but are likely to include the usual fruit and veg, bakery goods, pet food, meat, olive stalls and fish stall..

The Monday market is an important part of the food supply chain for many local people and you are encouraged to support it.

Shielding our most vulnerable

Abingdon Council News - Fri, 03/27/2020 - 10:56

Please see the below communication from South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Council:

Shielding our most vulnerable

Our most vulnerable residents across Oxfordshire will have recently received correspondence from the NHS, identifying them as high risk and advising them to strictly self-isolate for 12 weeks.

We know this long-term restriction may cause additional concerns for those without any nearby support and we want to make sure any shielded resident, who doesn’t know where to turn, are not handling these additional worries alone.

Please see the below from Blue Sky Eco Cafe:

Blue Sky Eco Cafe is closed for foreseeable future BUT I would like to offer a delivery service to those over 70 and isolated in some way. The lunch would come in our compostable boxes with salad, left on your doorstep and payment by cash, cheque or bank transfer. The menu would depend on ingredients available and nothing fancy.

Fishing Permits

Abingdon Council News - Wed, 03/18/2020 - 16:40

Please note that in light of the recent coronavirus pandemic no new fishing permits will be issued or renewed for the remainder of 2020. Instead the permits for the previous fishing year will still count as valid.

You will still be required to have your 2019 permit with you at all times when fishing.

We have made this decision based on the current government guidelines around social distancing as the health of our staff and Abingdon residents is our highest priority.
